National poetry month Sara Teasdale

I found this in a coming of age story by Irene Hunt. It resonated with the teen girl I was and it still is a treasure in my eyes.

Maya Angelou day three

This poet has always been a favorite, so I was hard pressed (as I was with Emily Dickinson and Edgar Allan Poe) to choose my top three favorite poems. National poetry month is definitely allowing me to revisit verse that I have loved for a lifetime.

National poetry month Maya Angelou More

This one speaks so much to me. Ms. Angelou was a very gifted poet, so I had a hard time limiting my favorite ones to a manageable three. However I did. Tomorrow I will post one more by her, then I will post another favorite poet.
