Lyrics –

Dear diary, dear diary
I’ve been searching for a higher me
I’m in the sky, in the pilot’s seat, trying to stop my mind from spiraling
And that’s irony, that’s irony
I’m just looking for a resolution, I just want to be a better human
But it’s hard when everybody’s acting stupid
Pardon me if that came off rude, I just have a bad attitude
With the world and not just with you, it’s the side effects of abuse
I admit I’m a little strange, I don’t think that I’ll ever change
I survived a whole life of pain, you could say I escaped my fate

I’m a cynical, egotistical, unpredictable, hardened criminal
And I can be a little hypocritical, but I’ll admit it straight to your face
I’m unbreakable, irreplaceable, undeniably inspirational
I used everything I had available to make me the person I am today

Dear diary, dear diary
I just had another wild dream
I was in a world that admired me, and when I woke up I was smiling
And that’s irony, that’s irony
You talk a lot but you don’t even know me
I’m just hoping that my testimony will inspire y’all to stop acting phony
Pardon me if that came off weird, I don’t mean to be mean, I swear
I have been through a lot this year, I just want to make a few things clear
I don’t like it when people hate behind my back and not to my face
Nowadays it just feels so fake, so I’ll cut the grass to expose the snakes

I’m unstoppable, it’s impossible
You don’t wanna see the diabolical side of me that never stops, is volatile
So I suggest you stay in your lane
I’m unapologetic, you know where it’s headed
I will never ever let up off the pedal
I got the spirit of every warrior in me ever, so back the fuck up, get out my face

You’re a slave to labor and you praise the fascist
You kiss the hand that takes half in taxes
Faking outrage and being seen, a generation with no self-esteem
It’s time to rise up and stand against them, break the chains and finally see the vision
We’re post-traumatic from a broken system
Follow me into the chaos engine

It’s time to stand, it’s time to fight
Don’t be afraid to twist the knife
Your sacrifice to break the curse
Prepare to die, prepare to burn
Abandon hope, it’s not enough
‘Cause all our gods abandoned us
Your sacrifice to break the curse
Light the match, watch it burn

Heaven falls, the angels die
Let it burn from the start
When everything falls apart

When everything falls apart (why have you forsaken me?)
When everything falls apart (heavy is the crown, you see)
When everything falls apart (why have you forsaken me?)
When everything falls apart (heavy is the crown, you see)
When everything falls apart
When everything falls apart

My 2 cents –

This has been my earworm lately. it is a powerful song. I believe it is my favorite from this band. So do you listen to a playlist or the same song on repeat? I get burned out on songs and need the playlist but I was curious as to the way others do it. My son listens to the same song on repeat.

Tempests and Slaughter by Tamora Pierce

Discover the origin story of one of the realm’s most powerful mages in the first book in the Numair Chronicles.

Arram Draper is on the path to becoming one of the realm’s most powerful mages. The youngest student in his class at the Imperial University of Carthak, he has a Gift with unlimited potential for greatness–and for attracting trouble. At his side are his two best friends: Varice, a clever girl with an often-overlooked talent, and Ozorne, the “leftover prince” with secret ambitions. Together, these three friends forge a bond that will one day shape kingdoms. And as Ozorne gets closer to the throne and Varice gets closer to Arram’s heart, Arram realizes that one day–soon–he will have to decide where his loyalties truly lie.

In the Numair Chronicles, readers will be rewarded with the never-before-told story of how Numair Salmalín came to Tortall. Newcomers will discover an unforgettable fantasy adventure where a kingdom’s future rests on the shoulders of a talented young man with a knack for making vicious enemies.

My Thoughts

Okay this is an author that I almost always love the books in. II enjoyed all the other books she has written for this world but this is the newest series. It lives up to her usual.

Saturday Thoughts

This is my work in progress list… and how I keep track of my word count.

Stolen Skins took me more than a little longer than I expected this week. I submitted it to Fae Corps Publishing for Across the stolen seas. (the process is slightly different for the approval on this one, so if you submit something to it we will be about 3 weeks for the approval or denial of work on this.)

I finished my library book and plan to do it for tomorrow’s review. I spent a bit of time reading this week, so I did less poetry. When I pick up a book I devour it. I tend to go through about 500 pages in a day. For some reason I struggle with my consumption of reading materials until midway through the year. Then I will be consistent in my reading process for the next few months. I will be doing a couple of ARC books for my friends this week coming. (gotta love having author friends) I also have at least 3 submitted manuscripts to read for Fae corps publishing. (Threatened me with a good time there.)

As I am not focusing on Serena’s story this week I hope I will be able to get more poems written but I don’t know. I am going to be hiring (starting Monday) Pic (partners in crime) editing to assist with Kingdoms of Sin. I have worked with them before and they are really good. I hope they will get me back to writing it. I want to release it next year if possible.
