Cait Marie has been obsessed with books her entire life. The love of writing didn’t hit until 2017. Since then, she has held multiple positions within Coffee House Writers, including C.O.O., Advertising Supervisor, Editor, and Writer. In 2018, she used her passion for reading to create Functionally Fictional. In 2019, she joined the indie staff of YA Books Central as a reviewer and then Indie Assistant Blogger.
Cait graduated with honors in 2019 from Southern New Hampshire University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, and she is currently enrolled in their Master of Fine Arts program. She lives in Indiana, where she freelance edits and provides a variety of other author services. Cover Reveal For a Friend

So my friend, and fellow Coffee House Writer, Cait Marie, has a book coming out in June. I volunteered to show you the cover and blurb, and give you the link for it. Webcomic Wednesday

I am now back able to work on getting updated on my favorite web-comics again. I have several who are no longer available. I have shared a few with you. Today I will share one that I am not updated on…but that I am slowly working through. I have to continue to clean up bookmarks, and get up to date on my favorites.

Today I want to share a comic based off of the writing of H.P. Lovecraft. You wouldn’t think that such deep philosophical writings could make anything resembling funny, but this web comic really has some great humor. Each comic has a bit of a stand alone feel, but I highly recommend going through the archives. It is very worth it.

Robert Frost was the first time I learned that there was a Poet Laureate. It tickled me to know that poets could be honored by the people in charge. Then I read his poetry and I understood why.

Langston Hughes

First off… I have been enjoying the ability to share my favorite poets and their words. This is actually kind of fun.

I found Langston Hughes in High school. His work spoke to the part of me that felt isolated. Yes, I am a white female of mixed genetics. So I come from a place of privilege… Except I was an outcast among my peers. I spent so much time moving around as a kid that I was strange. Add in trauma and you end up with someone who feels isolated. His words spoke about the struggle of the poc. That enforced segregation and the misery in it. I felt like I understood him and his poetry. I realize how that sounds… I am not equaling myself with a poc and their struggle… I am merely saying that I felt like I could understand it and so I could relate with his words.

So…. I have been posting the series of women poets to make up for my messing up my schedule last week. It seems to be liked. Do y’all want me to continue with poets? It would have to go to male poets as I have posted all of my favorite women poet’s… (From the past… I have a couple of faves from lately but I have posted those people in my Monday poetry series.). Lmk in the comments and I will see how many people want it to continue.

Emily Dickinson

So, first I apologize for the lateness, today has been incredibly busy.

Emily Dickinson was the first poetry I ever read. I was amazed by the images her words… After her I found other greats such as Poe, Shakespeare, Blake, and other such poets. Still she was the first and still one of my favorites.
