What is Wednesday

FAQ

I have updates.

First… I did the annual poetry marathon this past weekend. I signed up for the half marathon and I wrote more than I signed up to do. I was rather pleased with that.

Next, Fae corps publishing is in the process of creating – taking on? – an imprint. I don’t have a whole lot I can tell you about it yet… But it’s actually really close to being a thing.

Next, I was invited to try to write a story (Serena) that is for a really interesting anthology. That doesn’t mean that they are going to accept the story. Just that I am allowed to try for the call. It is entirely out of my normal wheelhouse writing wise. I have until November to write it and I have it halfway done. It has been flowing. I am terrified. But I am writing it anyway.

And the last update for the post is that I do realize that I accidentally scheduled the Tuesday Tunes post last week for the wrong time. It went up at six pm instead of six am. I am grateful for your patience. I will try to be more careful this week.

Loneliness

By

Serena Mossgraves

Soylent green is people

And I have always been color blind.

What does it matter to me

If I am but the last one

Left behind?

People on whole are a cruel

And ignorant lot,

And I prefer loneliness.

For loneliness is dangerous

You can learn to love yourself there.

Human Shaped Verse

By Patricia Harris

Humanity is but another
Unknown thing
Making the poets speak.
All about the possibility
Never understanding the truth.

Someday I will speak instead about
How much I understand
All the things that make humans
Poetry.
Even then I will be wrong,
Definition is impossible.

Vaguely unreal is as close in
English as I might be capable.
Referring to the entire race
Somehow as having any voice
Even though they don’t understand themselves.

Sunday Suggestions

Poetry Prompt Take the song u hate the most and turn it into a haiku

Sunday Suggestions

Okay as a prompt… This is a hard one. Haiku is very specific. It has 5 syllables then 7 syllables and lastly 5 syllables and it must have a natural reference… Boy that new intern has set up a challenge!

There is so many forms of art. It makes it harder to acknowledge the label of artist.
A person who bakes beautiful cakes is an artist.

A person who draws using charcoal is an artist.

A person who aranges the words to form poetry or prose is an artist.

A person who paints in watercolors, acrylics, or oils is an artist.

A person who weaves is an artist.

A person who works with clay, resin or stone is an artist.

Perhaps any person who just creates something to bring beauty or Joy into this dismal world is an artist?

Today I am philosophical. Because I am too tired to create art.

What a week!

Meme - Not today

This has been a busy week.

I found out (thanks to one of my authors there) that the covers are not appearing on the sites for the indie bookstores in Canada. So I am working to get that fixed.

I have several books in the manuscript stage. This is where I am dealing with Formatting, editing and making sure that all the details are right before I publish them. Which is tiring all on it’s own.

I got distracted by a new story. I was doing well writing the Sea Wytch…but I got invited to submit to an anthology Fractured Mind Publishing is Doing…and it is out of my normal genre. And I am scared to death of messing it up…but I am enjoying the writing. It is flowing, and I am trying to make it work.

If I get accepted it will be a February release. I will be sure to post more on here as it is known to me. (of course this is a Serena thing.)

I wrote another Bedtime tales book for release next year. (That is a Patricia thing..)

And the poetry has been happening.

With all of that plus the normal publishing stuff…and the housekeeping that I have to try to keep up with…I am exhausted.

Kids say the Strangest Stuff

By Patricia Harris

Why do we grow out
Of saying the most fun
Things that can come to mind?

Hurry up and save the toothbrush,
Avoid the trip to the planet
Made of stench and stinky feet…
Be made of turtles if you need to.
Why did you stop talking to
The monsters in the closet anyway?

Kids understand the world,
The wonders that keep it alive…
So though they say some of
The strangest things,
I think the kids see more than
Anyone else does in a lifetime.

*Poet’s note. This is absolutely inspired by my friend Jenny’s Dante. She messaged me three things that he said and it reminded me of the moments when my kids were little…and I realized that kids have a magic that we tend to forget by the time adulthood comes.
