litmus test is a scientific method using treated paper to check if a liquid is an acid or a base. In daily life, people use it as a common phrase for a single, simple test that helps make a big decision or show a person’s true views. (From Merriam webster)
I have had people tell me various litmus tests to being a good person. Many of them required things that as my body has aged were not possible for me. Or at least not consistently possible.
I have always considered myself to be a good person. Judging based on how I put the cart back or don’t use “cripple” carts are not in my mind good indications. Instead, I will judge myself based on the kindness I show.
Do I return grocery carts? Yes, when I am able. But sometimes I need to lean on that cart to walk, which means I can’t return it and still return to my vehicle. Do I use the “Cripple” Cart? yeah…because again some days I cannot walk. Judgements based on such things are ableism at best, cruel at worst.
There are other “Litmus Tests” that have been presented over the years. Honestly, All of them have flaws if you use them to judge how a person is good or bad. Is the person generally kind? Everyone has bad days. So I refuse to judge a person based on an always statement. Instead look at how they act Most of the time. Look at how they treat those who are not their equal. (Ex Children, and Animals) Look at how they treat themselves and their community. Are they cruel by nature? These are things I will judge a person on…and even then I lean towards the idea that it might just be a bad day.
I prefer against judging others as I hate being judged. Still, many are quick to do just that. Not many are privy to my life. So telling me that I have to pass some imaginary standard to be a good human…well it is not appropriate. Instead, try living your own life as a good person and stop nosing in others lives.

My Thoughts
okay. I am a part of the group of teenagers who actually read this series and I read it way too young. I am aware that most of the VC Andrews books have been written by ghostwriters. Still this one was not terrible. It didn’t even need as much of a tw. There was a scene with questionable consent, and it involves alcohol. Otherwise it was just a historical romance that was told from her pov. I am doubting the accuracy of the times. she is a bit more forward than most women in that era.
I recommend it with the caveat of this is actually better if you haven’t read the series. The knowledge of the rest of the series made me feel like it was written in a manner to shoehorn in.
This is my work in progress list… and how I keep track of my word count.
My health issues got me this week. Wednesday was a migraine, and I have an odd knot in my right palm. it has made using the hand painful at best. I am going to the doctor Monday to see what I can do about it. I am right handed so I need it not hurting so I can get stuff done.
That being said…I believe I have managed to get quite a bit written in the meantime.
Dear diary, dear diary I’ve been searching for a higher me I’m in the sky, in the pilot’s seat, trying to stop my mind from spiraling And that’s irony, that’s irony I’m just looking for a resolution, I just want to be a better human But it’s hard when everybody’s acting stupid Pardon me if that came off rude, I just have a bad attitude With the world and not just with you, it’s the side effects of abuse I admit I’m a little strange, I don’t think that I’ll ever change I survived a whole life of pain, you could say I escaped my fate
I’m a cynical, egotistical, unpredictable, hardened criminal And I can be a little hypocritical, but I’ll admit it straight to your face I’m unbreakable, irreplaceable, undeniably inspirational I used everything I had available to make me the person I am today
Dear diary, dear diary I just had another wild dream I was in a world that admired me, and when I woke up I was smiling And that’s irony, that’s irony You talk a lot but you don’t even know me I’m just hoping that my testimony will inspire y’all to stop acting phony Pardon me if that came off weird, I don’t mean to be mean, I swear I have been through a lot this year, I just want to make a few things clear I don’t like it when people hate behind my back and not to my face Nowadays it just feels so fake, so I’ll cut the grass to expose the snakes
I’m unstoppable, it’s impossible You don’t wanna see the diabolical side of me that never stops, is volatile So I suggest you stay in your lane I’m unapologetic, you know where it’s headed I will never ever let up off the pedal I got the spirit of every warrior in me ever, so back the fuck up, get out my face
You’re a slave to labor and you praise the fascist You kiss the hand that takes half in taxes Faking outrage and being seen, a generation with no self-esteem It’s time to rise up and stand against them, break the chains and finally see the vision We’re post-traumatic from a broken system Follow me into the chaos engine
It’s time to stand, it’s time to fight Don’t be afraid to twist the knife Your sacrifice to break the curse Prepare to die, prepare to burn Abandon hope, it’s not enough ‘Cause all our gods abandoned us Your sacrifice to break the curse Light the match, watch it burn
Heaven falls, the angels die Let it burn from the start When everything falls apart
When everything falls apart (why have you forsaken me?) When everything falls apart (heavy is the crown, you see) When everything falls apart (why have you forsaken me?) When everything falls apart (heavy is the crown, you see) When everything falls apart When everything falls apart
My 2 cents –
This has been my earworm lately. it is a powerful song. I believe it is my favorite from this band. So do you listen to a playlist or the same song on repeat? I get burned out on songs and need the playlist but I was curious as to the way others do it. My son listens to the same song on repeat.

My Thoughts
Okay this is an author that I almost always love the books in. II enjoyed all the other books she has written for this world but this is the newest series. It lives up to her usual.
