I didn’t like the prompt today…
also I saw the typo in the last stanza after I posted it. it should say For even their own scripture tells them to behave differently.

“Christian, n.: one who believes that the New Testament is a divinely inspired book admirably suited to the spiritual needs of his neighbor.”
Ambrose Bierce
Christians are not alone in that way of regarding their scriptures.

no they are not. I have actually spent time in multiple religions to try to find the right one for me. I found I am best suited for paganism. Christianity was my first home and the one that I have found the most people who don’t follow their own beliefs system.

I see the Council of Nicaea, with which Constantine domesticated the Christian movement into an arm of Empire as the central breaking of the real teachings of Jesus, with temporal power dominating the spiritual path, and the image of Him as a warrior replacing the teacher of peace, and mercy.
Paganism does make much more ecological sense,
“Perhaps the attempt to achieve grace by identification with the animals was the most sensitive thing which was tried in the whole bloody history of religion .” Gregory Bateson
