My Thoughts

Sunday Books: Summer Angel by Suzie O’Connell

Summer Angel, the third book in Suzie O’Connell’s Northstar series, combines romance, family, and suspense.

The story follows June Montana and Ben Conner, two people whose lives are complicated by past trauma and difficult decisions. Ben carries guilt over a death that left a young boy orphaned, while June has adopted that same boy, Luke. When Ben returns to Northstar, their lives become intertwined again.

I found this to be an easy, enjoyable read.

The characters were clearly developed and believable. Their personalities and circumstances made sense within the story, which helped everything flow naturally.

I particularly appreciated how the adoption angle was handled. It worked well within the storyline rather than feeling like something added simply to create drama. Luke’s connection to both June and Ben gives their relationship an additional layer of emotional complexity.

The combination of romance, family relationships, and suspense makes for a story with plenty going on without becoming difficult to follow.

Overall, Summer Angel was a pleasant read with believable characters and a storyline that came together nicely.

If you enjoy contemporary romance with family themes and a touch of suspense, this may be one worth picking up.
