Pad Challenge Day 30
Poetry

The End

By Patricia Harris

Is once the word is spoken

at the end of it’s life,

nothing further for it to know?

or is the verse just beginning

and the speech the start

of all it will know?

Either way I feel like
the word spoken in verse
will catch something more than
interest and ignite a new thirst.

Poetry

Until dawn

By Patricia Harris

Staying awake for no reason
Until dawn approaches
Produces the same dreams
As if you were to crawl into
Bed as soon as the night falls.

Telling the self that life
Must fit in the schedule
Given by social settings
Only creates a guilt
Unnecessarily.

Ars Poetica Day 29

Poetry

Words detached from the heart
Spelled into the pen,
Creating from the energy given
The poetry given to the world..

Perhaps I could do something more
With the energy than shaping it
Into the verse so fair,
But the perverse nature of my heart
Says that I must make the poetry.

Poetry

Dead Inside

By Serena Mossgraves

The problem with life
Is expectations are so high
So much drama and the cost of pride.

It leaves everyone feeling
Like they might just be
Dead inside.

It drills holes in the soul
For emotion to crawl into
To hide.

Poetry

Remind me

By Patricia Harris

I just don’t know how
to remix the words
that I wrote already
so perfectly.

Remind me that I have
a flaw or ten,
so I don’t see the writing
as perfection written.

* I am not actually sure if I do write perfectly…. but the prompt today was to remix one of our own poems. I hate remixes in general and I don’t want to do it to my own poetry. I have plans to do a revisiting poetry book but it is mostly going to be a discussion of my own poetry, not the remix.

Poetry

I am Human

by Patricia Harris

The best idea of who I am
is found in the mirror,
flaws showing,
Dreams weaving into a form
resembling something divine.

I am human,
with all that it might mean.
I am human,
with the whole world laid
out in front of my feet.

Pad challenge Day 24

To the Max

By Patricia Harris

Humanity has been trying
To find the best way
To maximize
Our own way to
Survive…

So often we have
Forgotten about
The idea that
We need to do more
Than just survive.

So we should live
Life to the max,
Always ready to
Ignore the same
Bull that life throws
At us.

* This is the first poem in Human Shaped Verse. The newest volume.

Heart of Hope

By Patricia Harris

Stretching to the edge of insanity,
When the pressure gets to be too much,
That is where you find it…
The strength that is the heart of hope.

Courage is not being brave
Because you don’t feel fear,
It is feeling it and doing anyway.
The heart of hope is knowing
Despair and choosing
To believe in the possibility
Of what time will bring.

Pad challenge Day 22

Wasteland of the heart

By Patricia Harris

Perhaps dystopian tales
Have it all wrong,
The apocalypse will not be
Some huge global catastrophe…
Instead I think that
It is going to be
A slow decay of the social
Heart and mind.

That has already begun
With man no longer caring for
The fellow man…
The wasteland of the heart
Has already started to form
With the world not decaying
Just falling apart silently
From within.

Tropes

By Patricia Harris

Writing based
on the expectation
Is harder to explore
The openness of creativity.

Tropes in poetry
Tend to be
Writing love
And nature poems.

I’m not a poet
That leans towards
The tropes to hold
My writing up.
