Timing and verse

So I have been very sick or this post would have been made last week. I have finished writing the poetry for Temporal Verse. I am working on layout and will be posting links soon.

I am going to be doing the inktober challenge… And I will post the pictures of it daily. However, I will likely not be posting long descriptions with. As that would make it harder for me. Inktober, for the uninformed, is a daily drawing challenge. I will not promise that mine will be the best art out there, as the challenge draws some amazeballs artists. I am going to try to post here and twitter and instagram.

Then I plan on doing the pad challenge in November, and Serena is doing Nanowrimo. So I will try to post some of the results, poetry and teasers for her. I am not going to promise that because I may not have any extra time.

I have started branching into other places to sell my books. Draft2digital offers me options for many venues. I will be next week doing a post up with the links that I have already, and I will attempt to update it monthly.

There have been discussions on doing an audiobook version of Rust, Gore, and the Junkyard Zombie as a anniversary release. If we do it, then it will be May.

I have a couple of poems from the new volume to share, I will do it in a separate post. This is mostly just upcoming news. ☺

Also, I have been posting on Facebook a poll. The title for my next volume of poetry… I am leaving in fan hands. Cast your vote.

P.a.d. Me…

Poetic rambling

It’s national poetry month… Which means that there is several places doing prompts and a great many poets are doing P. A. D. Challenges. Now, for my non poet readers, that stands for Poem A Day. I am however a bit of an overachiever. I am striving for three poems a day in April. So far I am ahead of the curve. Three yesterday and four today… But it is exhausting, so I may not be able to keep it up through the month. We will see. I will be posting at least one poem per week – some new, some already published. So keep an eye here for that.

Serena’s Rust, gore, and the junkyard zombie is already back in my editor’s hands. Pre-order is still available on Amazon. It’s going to be releasing May first.

April is going to be an exciting month… Keep watching to see.

Why I won’t be doing Camp nanowrimo

I surround myself with other writers. It allows me to feel understood… And it helps me to do better. The only time I regret that is during the two times that NanoWrimo is a thing.

Everyone around me suddenly expects me to join the writing push. I always do the Pad challenge, and I cannot do the pad challenge and guarantee the word count for the other challenge. And I hate setting myself up to fail.

Some of my friends get this, others however seem to feel like it is a personal affront to them that I refuse to sign up. I am a poet first, the other writing is not life or death if I never write another story. However if I cannot write poetry I am losing a part of my soul.

So dear writing friends… Though I understand why you want to join the fun, can you please not be mad about my staying out to enjoy the PAD challenge? I swear that I am not trying to tell you not to enjoy your challenge. I am merely trying to do one of my own.

Thx, bye now.

Writers

©2017 By Patricia Harris

We write because we must,
Lest insanity set in.
We write the snarls
Emotionally,
Lest the outside world
Cave in.

The words each a monster,
Deep inside our heads,
Tearing down our psyche
Demanding to be heard.

We write because
Without it,
We are but simply
Star dust.

Energy sapping Monsters

With so much requiring our attention, this time of year is not always a productive time for us writers. Well at least in a personal sense. Between Nanowrimo and the November PAD challenges, and other writing, there is more than enough people looking for our attention. Add in normal Seasonal blues that many have, and it can be overwhelming.

Personally, I find myself an anxious mess about the amount I am expected to join in. I chose not to do Nano this year because of the amount of stuff I have going on in my personal life…still I am finding that other writers are looking for me to join. I am so glad that I have friends that include me. There is always something to be said for that.

I have been doing the PAD challenge. I also have managed to get a bit farther in Rust, Gore and the Junkyard Zombie.  I believe that 2018 will be a wonderful year for book releases. Many wonderful writers are doing Nano this year. I am cheering them on.
However, with all that I have going on, life is weighing heavy on this girl right now. It means that I am finding my spoon supply a lot smaller. Forgive me my sweet ones if I fail to post more that a couple times during the next two months. I will do my best to keep all my balls I am juggling in the air, but if one falls…I will just have to dust myself off and try some more.

November Pad challenge

Just wanted to let y’all know….I am doing the Pad Challenge. I will be sharing a few more of my poems in November than usual….keep an eye here!

Reminiscent

Bare feet

And heavy dreams.

Atop the sky,

Life was eternal it seems.

Hidden forts,

Behind bleachers,

In the trees.
Running about pretending

That we would always be,

Friends and dreamers

In infinity.
Innocence a haze,

Setting the tone,

Childhood a state

Best when not alone.
