Monday Poetry

Artsy Fartsy Thursday

This week I am going to talk about book covers. These are for future volumes of Poetry. At this point I am probably sitting on more covers than I will live to write…but I have plans for each of them. And I enjoy the creation of the cover.

Occult Madness will be religious poetry. Ocular Dystopia will be visual poetry. Naked verse is just going to be a regular volume with no theme.

Monday Poetry

On my way home, a realization

With each of the last few volumes I have been doing a theme… unintentionally but I have been doing it nonetheless. So, I have been struggling with this one and I think that I finally figured out why.

I have been trying to focus on the home aspect of the title… and the poetry is acceptable… but it has been harder to write because I don’t really know what home is. It changes as I do. And I can be mercurial in who I am on occasion.

I think that I need to instead look at the journey. And write about that. It might help me find the rest of the words to fill in the book. If I can get it done in time I will try for an August publishing date.

Progress on Poetry

Xactly Poetic is currently up to 32/70 poems

Queer Verbage is up to 24/70 poems

On my way home is up to 25/70

Fighting Ignorance is up to 22/70

Dream Drips is at 5/70

Serena’s Blood Red Rain is at 30/70

As you can see… I am making progress… but I’m not sure if I am going to be done with any of them soon… that being said… I am setting a September release date tentatively for Xactly Poetic. I think that I can do that deadline. I say tentatively as I don’t have it finished and I don’t want to promise something that I can’t do.

It feels so strange to me to have so many volumes in progress. But many of them have a theme… which means that I am limited to what goes into them.

Xactly Poetic is all about the form. I am a free verse poet – so writing to the form is a challenge for me and my writing skills.

Queer Verbage is all about being a non-binary pansexual and the rainbow magic in my life.

On my way home is not themed, really…but like many of my volumes it is picking up a slight theme of the journey and what home is to me. Though I am not doing it on purpose.

Fighting ignorance is political poetry… and my opinions there are strong.

Dream Drips is about addiction.

And of course Serena is dark poetry.

A Debate with me

So I am finally done with writing Quiet Screams… and I have Anthology Alumni completed. I normally ask for suggestions on what volume is next… but I think that is not the case this time.

I have several that are in progress and I am going to try to get them done… plus I had the urge to write a poem for On My Way Home. (Basically themed to the title 😄. ) So I am going to claim it as my new volume and work on it and then some of the other ones that are in my in progress folder.

I still have to get the coloring book (color my art) set up for publishing in July. However I have the setup for the two volumes above…links are in the last word for each title…

Title results

So I received quite a few responses to my polls on which of the upcoming titles. The top three were 1. Ethereal Dreams 2. On my way home 3. Echoes into the Void…I believe that I will do them in that order. Thank you all for your help. Thoughtcicles is one away from done and I am inclined to see if I can get it done…so I will be likely starting this volume with tomorrow’s Pad.

Title picking time

So I am at 64/70 poems for Thoughtcicles. I don’t have the next general poetry title picked out yet. It is a pull between these four. I would love your opinions?
