There was no poem for Monday as I was too sad to write. Stan Lee’s passing was monumental. Yes I know that he was old. Somehow though he was one of those people who seem immortal. So I will try to do the poem prompt for today as well as tomorrow’s then. For tonight… The world is just too sad. So I am going to bed hoping that Mr. Lee is greeted on the other side like the hero he was.
Prompt forgiveness…
I struggled with this one. And then I was sitting here in bed… Kicking myself for all that I had failed to do. I have to be back up at seven. And my inner voice yelled at me to stop, forgive myself and go to sleep.
I plan to do a whole series of posts on world building. This is the first of several. In future I will likely be including some links to assist you in your writing endeavors.
The beginning of world building is asking questions about your new locale.
Start with some basic details.
1. How big is your world. (Is it about the size of earth? Or Jupiter? or is it small like Pluto)
2. How is your world laid out? (Do you have an earth clone? or is it completely different? what is the terrain? Is your world a water world style or a desert planet (Aka Arakkis via Dune.) this is where you plan the general flora and fauna)
3. How is your world populated? (Is there just humans? or is there more races? If so how many are on there?)
4. How does the sky appear? (How many suns? How many moons?)
5. How far from the Star/Stars is your world? (This affects the temperature and weather on your world.)
6. How is your world as far as technology goes? How is it as far as magic? This affects how your cities are. Is it Steampunk? High magical fantasy? Diesel punk? Cyber punk? or perhaps Stellar traveling fantasy? This helps to set the expectation for the genre.
Once you have those details let’s get slightly more in depth.
*How do people get water?
Is the water sanitary and if not, how do they sanitize it?
*How does agriculture work?
Is it large corporations or individual farms?
*What sort of agricultural technology exists in your world and how does it affect food production?
*Are farmers wealthy or poor?
*What sort of natural resources does your world/country(ies) have and how are they obtained?
*How does this affect the average wealth of the country?
*How does this wealth affect the culture?
*What livestock or beasts of burden are most valued? Least valued? Why?
*What is considered a luxury good vs. a regular good?
Think clearly on each question. Visualize your answers. Go deeper.
This speaks to the way society runs. This speaks to the way people function on your world.
Government / Politics/ Racial Divide
Gather the answers. Next time I will link to a couple of good map making resources, But this is enough to get you started. What world will come of the answers? Will you create the next fun game? or will you use it to write a Novel that everyone will want to read. I will be adding more questions next time as well.
I have been letting this slide slightly. Too much this month to keep up on my pursuit to update my favorite webcomics… Current I am up to date on Questionable Content, Goblins, and Geekasaurus. I am working on getting up to date on Looking for group. So many great webcomics and I will eventually get back to having a list worth reading.
Ok… Now for the other part of webcomic Wednesday. Fandoms… I am all over the place in my fandoms. Naming the different ones that I enjoy would take forever. I have been trying recently to convince my teen daughter that being into kids stuff in a fandom way is okay. She is into monster high and was afraid that it was too childish. (Personally I love Cleo and Ghoulia.) So I present you a question… What is your favorite fandom and why?
So remember that I said I might be able to be in the winter issue of Creative Risings E-zine? Well I was approved for it. I was given the assignment for art/digital art and the topic is spirituality. That is incredibly open and I will have to think on what I will be submitting. I am currently out of canvases for physical art. So I will likely be doing it digital… I have to think on it though. Do you have any suggestions to assist?
This is the pad challenge prompt response from day two. I actually missed the note I had the prompt on and did day three instead. Then I found it today, and realized that I was a day ahead for the last couple. So here you go

So I am not going to lie… I am sitting here procrastinating. I am seriously not awake enough for the cursor blinking at me.

I have been working on going through my poetry volumes (also did Serena’s novella and her novel). I have been updating covers, double checking layout, spelling and grammar. Now, I published all of them… So I should have been doing very little… And for the newer ones… I have been doing less. I was an indie publisher from the get go… But I really had no clue what I was doing. I designed my covers but I didn’t have access to the tools that I have now. I have learned. I have grown.
The first image is the first cover, the second is the newest. Just because I was not knowledgeable doesn’t mean that I approached publishing as a hobby. Hobbyist, in my opinion are the ones who don’t actually put in any effort to improve how they do things.
I have two more volumes of poetry…Music for the soul and soul’s door. I think that I am finally happy with how they look. I think that I will put off the cleanup/ refresh of my kids books until December as November is shaping up to be very busy.
What is the difference between pro and hobbyist to you?
