Poetry

Am I just a fool
for wanting to write
the verse freely?

to weave the words
into the poetic,
pick my pen up
and let poetry flow.

Poetry

Hindsight

by

Serena Mossgraves

The way hindsight blinds,
kindness hidden by fear,
and friendship torn apart
by the illusion of what
the mind perceives.

Perhaps hindsight is twenty twenty,
but with no light to illuminate
seeing through the dark
can be an impossible thing.

Forgotten Lullabies

by

Patricia Harris

you once gathered lullabies
pretending that you cared,
but how quickly were they forgot
when it no longer suited your life?

forgotten lullabies are
but the memories
children fight with
into adulthood.

Book Review

Book Review

I have to admit I love Rachel Wiley’s Poetry. It feels like she gets where I have been. This was an impulse buy for me, as I rarely buy the paperback versions. I enjoy paperbacks but I don’t often read them. I find it easier to curl up with my phone and enjoy what I want to read. So for me Paperbacks are a luxury item. This one lives up to the hype. The poems tug at the heart, and are well written. The book is lovely. Not the largest volume, but it feels just right. I bought it on the Zon but it is available on B&N, Google and a few of the usual suspects.

Poetry

The End

By Patricia Harris

Is once the word is spoken

at the end of it’s life,

nothing further for it to know?

or is the verse just beginning

and the speech the start

of all it will know?

Either way I feel like
the word spoken in verse
will catch something more than
interest and ignite a new thirst.

Ars Poetica Day 30

Poetry

In the middle of madness
Lay the verse,
Written down to try to explain
Something dark and perfect.

That the world can be seen
With eyes shaded by dark things,
Or overgrown with flowers
That bloom in nightshade.
All of this is just an expression
Of poetry and the truth from
What a heart can bleed.

Poetry

Until dawn

By Patricia Harris

Staying awake for no reason
Until dawn approaches
Produces the same dreams
As if you were to crawl into
Bed as soon as the night falls.

Telling the self that life
Must fit in the schedule
Given by social settings
Only creates a guilt
Unnecessarily.
