Tuesday Tunes

Hello my lovelies. Welcome back for another song. Tell me in the comments what you are listening to today?

Today I bring you

Aerosmith- Janie’s Got a Gun

Lyrics –

[Verse 1]
Dum, dum, dum, honey what have you done?
Dum, dum, dum it’s the sound of my gun
Dum, dum, dum, honey what have you done?
Dum, dum, dum it’s the sound

[Chorus 1]
Janie’s got a gun
Janie’s got a gun
Her whole world’s come undone
From lookin’ straight at the sun
What did her daddy do?
What did he put you through?

[Verse 2]
They said when Janie was arrested
They found him underneath a train
But man, he had it comin’
Now that Janie’s got a gun
She ain’t never gonna be the same

[Chorus 2]
Janie’s got a gun
Janie’s got a gun
Her dog day’s just begun
Now everybody is on the run
Tell me now it’s untrue
What did her daddy do?
He jacked a little bitty baby
The man has got to be insane
They say the spell that he was under the lightning and
The thunder knew that someone had to stop the rain

[Chorus 3]
Run away, run away from the pain yeah, yeah yeah
Run away run away from the pain yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Run away, run away, run, run away

[Chorus 2]
Janie’s got a gun
Janie’s got a gun
Her dog day’s just begun
Now everybody is on the run

[Verse 2]
What did her daddy do?
It’s Janie’s last I.O.U
She had to take him down easy and put a bullet in his brain
She said cause nobody believes me. The man was such a sleeze
He ain’t never gonna be the same

[Chorus 3]
Run away, run away from the pain yeah, yeah
Yeah yeah yeah
Run away run away from the pain yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Run away, run away, run, run away

[Guitar Solo]

[Chorus 2]
Janie’s got a gun
Janie’s got a gun
Janie’s got a gun
Now everybody is on the run

[Outro]
Janie’s got a gun
Her dog day’s just begun
Now everybody is on the run (Honey honey, what’s the problem?)
Because Janie’s got a gun (Tell me it ain’t right)
Janie’s got a gun (Was it Daddy’s cradle robbing that)
Her dog day’s just begun (Made you scream at night?)
Now everybody is on the run
Janie’s got a gun

My two cents :

This song brought me comfort as a teen. I am an abuse survivor… And I was not believed. So I was a very angry teenager. I really think that most teens are angry. The injustice of being too young to do adult things and too old to be a kid. But I was fighting battles that I had no idea of how to deal with. This song spoke about vengeance against abuse. It spoke to the angry in me. I still love the song for that reason. It speaks to the part of me that has never seen justice. I have a lovely playlist that I may share… There is a lot of songs that talk about abuse… A lot more than most people realize exist.

August links

I normally do this post the first Saturday in the month… I am afraid that I was sick. And then I forgot that I had not done it yet. I have been incredibly squirrel brained. I apologize.

This month I have an additional section to add to my usual links.

Quicksilver poetry

Something new I am thinking about. Sometimes I want to jam. Just free verse because I have too much on my mind. It will likely be rambling and not the cleanest verse. But… It will be a good look into who I am behind the edited and clean verse I usually post. This will also not necessarily be the way that the poetry ends in the books. This section will not be scheduled. It will be a whim. And I make no promise of quality….

Chance – Patricia Harris

Faery Footprints

So I normally do poetry on Monday. Well this is still on topic. My publishing company Fae Corps is doing a poetry collection. I thought that I would share details with all of you.

Information :

1.) What is Faery Footprints?

It is a collection of 100 of the best poems that we were able to find. It is the second anthology published by a indie press.

2.) What’s the catch?

No catch. No fees. We will be accepting poetry sent via email to Faecorpspublishing@gmail.com until the September 30, 2019 deadline. Send the poetry in a doc file as an attachment in the email.

3.) What is the topic?

Well, obviously the topic is what you feel like writing. We want good poetry, the best that you have. If you choose to write about faeries then cool, but it is not a required topic.

4.) What about previous published?

We are fine with previous published as long as you give us that information so that we can credit it. (As long as you still have publication rights).

5.) Oh, yeah that reminds me… What about copyright?

With Fae Corps, we do everything possible to assure that the writer retains their rights. We will have a contract allowing us the ability to publish the work that you send in this volume. That is all we are looking for.

6.) What is the compensation for this ?

We are sorry, at this time we are only able to offer contributers copies.

7.) What is the limits on the submissions?

Up to 5 poems each person with a Maximum of 100 words. We do not limit style. If you want your poem in a certain layout… Please state such in the email.

8.) So how will I know if my poem made it?

The first week of November, my fellow editor and I will be going through the submissions. I have been trying to make sure that we send a receipt for each email. By the second week we will be sending out responses.

9.) What if I don’t do poetry?

We have another anthology that we are working on… Go here.

10.) What if I am uncertain about my writing?

Send us your poetry anyway… My partner and I will try to give you feedback. And any poetry that does not make it into the collection has a chance of being featured on our blog.

What could it hurt to reach out and try?

Friday Tips

Today I am going to touch on something that I have trouble with… Marketing. This is a little bit of common sense, a little bit of psychology, and a whole lot of courage.

My mom once told me that anyone can be a top notch salesman, all that is needed is a true belief in what you are selling. That is where I falter in my marketing. I am not as confident in my art as I should be.

So I will tell you some simple things to assist with the marketing of your writing or art.

First thing… Think about how you feel when you see ads. What do you like when you are reading book ads? Do you tend to pay attention more to just the text posts with blurbs and links, or the ones that have pictures? Most people prefer pictures. Keep in mind that the pictures only snag the attention. The blurb and title have to be good enough to keep the attention. The blurb is your call to action.

You want it to capture both the attention of your reader and the essence of your story. You don’t want to give too much, but it has to give at least some idea of what the story is about.

Next thing if all that you do is market your books people will stop following you. Nobody likes seeing only ads. Mix it up. Give teasers, jokes, or just something fun. Yes you have to share links to get people to buy, but it cannot be all of what you share. You are more than just what you are trying to sell. Use your spark to engage conversation, then after you have their attention… Say btw I have this that you may be interested in.

Lastly, you are not just your sales. So if you do not make good sales to start with, it is not a sign that you will not ever. You will have good and bad weeks. You will get bad reviews. Those people are not your readers. Your readers will love the words you write. Love yourself enough that you can deal with the backlash from the ones that are not your readers.
