so I had the first visit with a new dr Friday. Yesterday I got in email notes from the visit. Now before I get to the reason why I was upset about the notes…I need to state a bit of history. I have been 450 lbs at the largest I ever got. I have been on every diet possible as a teenager. I have been fighting with disordered eating for years. I barely eat once a day and I eat a proper portion when I do. it’s all in my chart.
so I looked at the notes and the doctor said I should be assigned behavioral counseling for obesity. I am sitting at 278. which is even 10 lbs less than the last time I was there.
I am still around 50 lbs more than I want to be…,but I will always be obese as I am 5’2. according to the bmi chart I would hit obese at 120. I have no way to get that small.
so I will be looking for a new dr and I had a good cry.

Maybe, your, overweight is not just, physiological, there are, psychological causes, as well as, hormonal imbalance, that can cause someone to become, obese, you may still need a, complete, pphysical to, know what is causing your, obesity by a medical professional, at a hospital. Don’t give up hope, with the, advances of modern day medicine, anything is, possible these days,

Some people are big. That’s the way they are. They are perfectly healthy that way. I come from large people. In today’s parlance, they are called obese. But my people lived long lives, into their 80s & 90s.
The diet industry has taken over medicine, which is now an industry here in the US. Dieting can actually cause people to get larger ~ it upsets the natural cycle of your body. I stopped dieting years ago.
I feel for you. Hang in there.

It sounds a though the Dr. wasn’t considering your history, or what you are actually eating. And, the recommendation of counseling sounds like something they put in in all cases of obesity. Yep, get a different doctor.
