These are the first two poems written in 2023 and I was struggling to find the topics. I am pleased with the way that they turned out, and releaved that I am able to share it with you.

So I asked a bit ago for ideas to improve my blog. I had someone choose to send their ideas privately,(Which I am fine with by the way), and I felt the ideas to be brilliant. I have tried to put as many in place as I could. I do not know if I have put them in play completely yet…I am still working on a few of them. It will likely be a work in progress for the next little bit. I am working on getting a routine in place. I want 2023 to be a year where I am organized and have an easier time keeping up with my writing and art. I want the blog to flow without hesitation…I know I don’t work that way…but I am always gonna try.
Those who have followed me for a while know I usually pick a word for each new year. One to be an example for what my goals/plan for the year will be. I think that I will be using a phrase for 2023. My phrase will be “Forward Movement”. The thought is even a baby step is forward movement. I spend too much time beating myself up for stuff that I don’t manage to get done. Things that fall through the cracks. This year I want to focus on the joy of life. The celebration of the things that I do get done. So, I am setting myself up for success.

In November I was able to schedule the blog ahead. However, I was not able to do the normal weekly posts. Not with the daily poetry posts. I enjoyed the poetry posts though, did you? Still, now I am sitting here about to get the week ahead scheduled and I find that I am feeling like I am at a refresh moment. A save spot in a game if you will. It makes me wonder if I should make changes to the themes of my day to day posts. Definitely thinking about if I want to do anything else for the new year.
I would love feedback from the reader of my blog. What would you like to see me talking about in the future? What is not working? I don’t guarantee that I am going to implement the suggestions, but I am going to at least consider them all. I am currently thinking about adding a few things maybe taking a couple of things out. I never do that new year new me thing, but I do have a policy for a yearly word. My word for 2023 is actually a pair. “Forward Progress” I am trying to find a way to improve me, my work, and my life. I spent much of this last year struggling and in a rut. I want to avoid this in the upcoming year.
So, in the interest of Forward Progress, I will ask. What is your opinion on this blog? What should I continue? What is probably better left behind in 2022? What would be a good addition to the blog in the future?

Last year was incredibly hard. It happens, and I am not going to sit and weep over it. However, it brought changes to both my personal and professional lives. I refuse to do a resolution because I often get distracted and lose sight of the objective with that. Instead, I do a yearly word. It helps me set the tone for the upcoming year. This year is Effort. Now that doesn’t mean I plan to put in more, just that I become Mindful of the effort I am putting in and the effort of others. (Sometimes we fail to see the effort others are putting in. Either because it doesn’t meet up to the expectations, or because we are too busy to notice.) This Year I want to be mindful. I want to adjust my life to appreciate the effort in it. Including my own. I am too hard on myself so I think that I will struggle some with this.
Fae Corps has had some changes. My partner is stepping down to concentrate on her writing. So I am now the main person in charge. That is both scary and wonderful. I have always dreamed of doing exactly what I am doing. But being in charge means I have to hold myself to a higher standard. It also means that I am the only one I can blame if it goes pear-shaped,
There is a lot planned for the upcoming year. Poetry volumes, Another Pip adventure, The release of several Anthologies….and Fae Corps will be releasing more books. I have announcements that I will be posting here during the next week, and I am hoping to be more mindful of the effort it takes to do a proper blog.
Until then and the time I post again, I wish all of you the blessings of the new year, and hope it is a great one for us all.

So I have a set up for this blog… Mostly. Monday is poetry.. Either mine or discussion of others. Tuesday is Tuesday tunes. Wednesday is either webcomics Wednesday or wordless Wednesday… Or very rarely Wednesday whimsy. Thursday is either tea party or reviews. The first Friday will be monthly prompts. I am considering a monthly submissions call on the second week. (Where I scour through finding calls for submissions for you all) I have two Fridays (most months) that I am still not sure about. I am considering doing a service spotlight where I point attention to a person providing a service for writer’s (editors, illustrators, cover designers, etc). 2020 my word for the year is change. I am going to embrace change. That means I am looking to improve how I interact with the world around me, how I approach my writing.
That is incredbly scary. Courage is not the lack of fear, instead it is being afraid and doing it anyway. I am terrified of change. It brings more Chaos… But I am facing it anyway.
So, I challenge you. What is your word for 2020? What are you going to embrace, and change in your life? No, I am not speaking of new year’s resolutions… This is something that is meant to make you think about you and how you approach life.
