Poetry is for every day

So for the last month I have been posting a poem at least daily. That was due to the fact that during November and April I tend to do the poem a day writing challenge. When I first started to do the challenges I struggled with the daily writing. I don’t struggle as much anymore. I am going to have to think about how to do the challenge in April to be a actual challenge.

However, that being said I want to point out that the poetry I posted was not the only poetry out there. Poetry is an enjoyable all of the time. And there is an incredible amount of poets out there. All social media sites have hashtags. Look for #poetryisnotdead or #poetrylovers. You won’t regret it.

Poetry November 5

My first English class in High school introduced me to Langston Hughes. The imagery in this is so very potent.

Poetry November 3

When I grow up I hope I am even half the person that Maya Angelou was. Her poetry touched something deep in so many hearts.

Poets November 2

This poet I discovered in a wonderful coming of age story….Up a Road Slowly by Irene Hunt. It had several wonderful poems nestled in the story.

Poetry November

This is by Shel Silverstein. His poetry is often fun and whimsical. I devoured all of his books in middle school.
