The Beatles – Yesterday

Lyrics –

[Verse 1]
Yesterday
All my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they’re here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday

[Verse 2]
Suddenly
I’m not half the man I used to be
There’s a shadow hanging over me
Oh, yesterday came suddenly

[Bridge]
Why she had to go
I don’t know, she wouldn’t say
I said something wrong
Now I long for yesterday

[Verse 3]
Yesterday
Love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday

[Bridge]
Why she had to go
I don’t know, she wouldn’t say
I said something wrong
Now I long for yesterday

[Verse 4]
Yesterday
Love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday

My 2 cents – this is a song that is timeless… Many times it has been covered… You can tell how it suits modern day by that alone. Personally I think that the original is the best.

Beatles – Yesterday

Lyrics –

[Verse 1: Paul McCartney]
Yesterday
All my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they’re here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday
Suddenly
I’m not half the man I used to be
There’s a shadow hanging over me
Oh, yesterday came suddenly

[Chorus: Paul McCartney]
Why she had to go
I don’t know, she wouldn’t say
I said something wrong
Now I long for yesterday

[Verse 2: Paul McCartney]
Yesterday
Love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday

[Chorus: Paul McCartney]
Why she had to go
I don’t know, she wouldn’t say
I said something wrong
Now I long for yesterday

[Outro: Paul McCartney]
Yesterday
Love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday

My 2 cents –

Music has always had a huge place in my life. From my mom and her refusal to listen to anything except country to my dad and his love of classic rock and my grandmother who taught me the appreciation of classical and old time radio programs. There was so much that influenced my tastes in music. I remember as a teen “Dj’ing” for the parties my Dad would have. My great grandfather owned a am country station in Virginia. Music was everywhere in my life. It still is a major part of who I am… Even now YouTube is on in the background playing music. For me this song talks about those mist covered memories of where I have been. What is the memories that this song evokes for you?
