Ars poetica November 8

Poetry

the poet is required
when the world goes dark,
for poetry gives the cracks
for light to get in.

Sometimes you need to write
your voice to remember that
the world cannot remove your voice.

Poetry

I forgot to lift my pen
when I first started to cry,
misery normally feeds
the poetry well.

This time I found
the ink was dry,
and the tears could not
soak in to it.

Poetry

Perhaps it is true
that writing poetry is easier
in times of tragedy,
but I personally
prefer the poetry
written in joy.

The weight of tragedy
and of despair make the poetry
harder to bear in reality,
where as joy will lift you
when you read.

Pad challenge Day 5

Today I struggled with the prompt. Every year it has a Love /Anti Love prompt and I often struggle with it.

Poetry

carve away the layers
to weave the poetry
beneath.

the pen has so much power
that only you can
release.

Poetry is the lifeblood
you cannot help but bleed
everywhere.

(in case of visual issues the poem reads)

courage is not just
the rushing in recklessly,
occasionally courage is
knowing that I have
lost my nerve
and then stepping
forward anyway.

I will make sure
I am always taking
the forward step,
Even though I don’t know
I will always have the nerve
to back up my move.

Poetry

Inspiration does not come easily
Especially when trying to write poetry.
Sometimes the art is but a whisper
forgotten to the land of dreams,
others it is not as good as once it seemed.

Every time you pick up your pen
the dance of poetry starts again.
It bleeds into all prose you write
Often stuck in your brain
much like a parasite.
