Snuffed

by Serena Mossgraves

the candle flickered softly
till the snuffer was brought forth.
the illusion of knowledge
given to the world is stripped
as the light fell from the eyes
of the innocent when truth was seen.

perhaps the snuffer has uses,
the world darkness does need…
the light has uses and knowledge
can be gleaned by leaving
the innocent to see.

Tuesday Tunes

Lyrics –

Another day in this carnival of souls
Another night settles in, as quickly as it goes
The memories are shadows, ink on the page
And I can’t seem to find my way home
And it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything
Your heaven’s trying everything
To keep me out
All the places I’ve been and things I’ve seen
A million stories that made up a million shattered dreams
The faces of people I’ll never see again
And I can’t seem to find my way home
‘Cause it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything
To break me down
‘Cause it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything
To keep me out
‘Cause it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything
To break me down
‘Cause it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything
Your heaven’s trying everything
To break me down
To break me down
To break me down
Your heaven’s trying everything
Your heaven’s trying everything
To break me down

My 2 cents –

with chronic illness hitting hard and sensory overload setting in because of the weather changes…plus I overloaded my work load…I am feeling this song lately.

Poetry

forgetting

by Patricia Harris

I am working on forgetting
the importance of my life,
for I am more than what I
can remember myself to be.

instead I want to remember
the importance of those I love
and the way I want to eventually be
instead of focusing entirely on me.

Hindsight

by

Serena Mossgraves

The way hindsight blinds,
kindness hidden by fear,
and friendship torn apart
by the illusion of what
the mind perceives.

Perhaps hindsight is twenty twenty,
but with no light to illuminate
seeing through the dark
can be an impossible thing.

Forgotten Lullabies

by

Patricia Harris

you once gathered lullabies
pretending that you cared,
but how quickly were they forgot
when it no longer suited your life?

forgotten lullabies are
but the memories
children fight with
into adulthood.

Thursday Thoughts

Book Discussion

So I have shared 2 book reviews over the last two weeks. I am temped to start doing that more…but I have to find a way to do such without adding to the media files on here. I will be thinking on it.

It would be an interesting addition to the blog. However it is adding to my already busy schedule.

It is not as if I do not read enough to be able to share at least my thoughts…Just how to do such without blowing out the media files….hmmm

Poetry

Under the Street Light

by Serena Mossgraves

the cold sets glistening

the ones that live

under the street light.

with no roof above them

the light exposes the

darkness below.

no home, no warmth,

the night is just another thing

to harry the broken soul along .

Tuesday Tunes

Lyrics –

When you feel that rage (When you feel that)
When you feel that rage
We’re the underdogs roaming in the dark
We’re the savages born from worlds apart
Our past has shown just how we bleed
A blind future in front of me
Lost and fractured to the point of break
So come and play with that rage (That rage)
Light a match and reignite the flames (The flames)
This ain’t the end, we’re here to stay
We rush into the unknown
Fearless and brave
So don’t throw it away (That rage)
Won’t stop until sweet victory
We’ve been working towards the goal for most our lives
Every challenge that we faced, we have survived
Our confidence is growing everyday
Finally it is our time to reign
Our past has shown just how we bleed
A blind future in front of me
Lost and fractured to the point of break
So come and play with that rage (That rage)
Light a match and reignite the flames (The flames)
This ain’t the end, we’re here to stay
We rush into the unknown
Fearless and brave
So don’t throw it away (That rage)
Won’t stop until sweet victory
We’re the underdogs roaming in the dark
We’re the savages born from worlds apart
And now I know that this is just the start
We will fight for everything we are
RAGE, that RAGE (When you feel that rage, when you feel that)
RAGE, that RAGE (When you feel that rage, when you feel that)
Rage (That rage)
Light a match and reignite the flames (The flames)
This ain’t the end, we’re here to stay
We rush into the unknown
Fearless and brave
So don’t throw it away (That rage)
Won’t stop until sweet victory
We will go down in history
So come and play with that rage (That rage)

My 2 cents –

I find myself avoiding social media and news…I am enraged at the politics and shenanigans that the government is getting up to. I am scared for those who are endangered by the stupidity that is going on and I feel helpless.

The Past

by Patricia Harris

the past is gone

forgotten,

repeating.

it leaves so many

feeling defeated.

it is not even happening

in a different way,

the past is gone...

so we will have to

live it all over again.

Book Review

Book Review

I have to admit I love Rachel Wiley’s Poetry. It feels like she gets where I have been. This was an impulse buy for me, as I rarely buy the paperback versions. I enjoy paperbacks but I don’t often read them. I find it easier to curl up with my phone and enjoy what I want to read. So for me Paperbacks are a luxury item. This one lives up to the hype. The poems tug at the heart, and are well written. The book is lovely. Not the largest volume, but it feels just right. I bought it on the Zon but it is available on B&N, Google and a few of the usual suspects.
