Thank you for finding and following my blog. If you’ve read my blog post from yesterday, you know I’ve received my first professional critique on the first 50 pages of my novel manuscript — and most of the editor’s comments were negative. Negative, but what I needed to hear in order to become a better fiction writer. I was struck, though, by the Patricia Harris poem above. I’ve had to fight off lots of negative thoughts in my head since receiving the critique! Such is the life of a writer, though, so I’m trying to roll with the punches and learn all I can from the experience.
