An Absurd Apocalypse Author Feature: Jonathan Degler

ckelley's avatarCK Fiction

Something we’ve been excited to see with this second anthology is the mixture of familiar faces, along with fresh new voices. Last week, we announced another familiar face in the CCP world,Katheryn Schwarz.

This week is our last first-time CCP contributor, although we were fortunate enough to help him edit his amazing fantasy tale, Princess Olive, in 2019. Jonathan Degler has been a friend and mentor in our writing endeavors, and we’re elated to be able to include a story from him in our upcoming second anthology.

Thursday Tea Party

Welcome my lovelies! It has been a minute since I have done this. Today is Chai for me, what are you drinking?

I feel ashamed that I have been slow to update the tea party, but I try and save them for times when I have news to pass on to you.

Upcoming in March:
Serena has an anthology she will be in – will post a link as soon as I have it along with a release date.
Bedtime tales : The Princess Lost will be re-releasing March 1st. The images are cleaned up and the layout is so much prettier.
Fae Corps will be releasing Tullawalla by Ivor Steven
My birthday is on the 13th. I usually try to do that week ahead and schedule. I don’t always manage it.

Upcoming in General:
I am working on a pad(Poem a day) challenge for Fae Corps Blog for April. Serena has Decided to do a poetry chapbook. I designed her a cover….

I finished writing a early Chapter book Titled Afraid of Shoe Mountain.
Serena is back to working on Madness and Truth. She tells me it is coming along nicely.
Fae Corps is working on compiling and polishing Faery Playgrounds for a early May release. I have several art pieces in it and Serena has a story.
Lily M. Snow is working on a kid’s book series that will include my art – Lily Doodles and the Ethereal Sparkles. I have been drawing the bad guys(the Blahs, The Closet monsters, the monsters under the bed, and the other things that frighten Children) (I am having so much fun!)
Cyndi and I have been discussing doing an online store for our crafts and art. More information as I have it.

Well, I think that is everything. Tell me, What do you have coming in the next couple of months?

Tuesday Tunes

A day for me to discuss music

Lyrics:
I let myself fall into a lie
I let my walls come down
I let myself smile and feel alive
I let my walls come down
No matter how I try I don’t know why
You push so far away
You wrapped your hands tight around my heart
And squeezed it full of pain
With this knife I’ll cut out the part of me
The part that cares for you
With this knife I’ll cut out the heart of me
The heart that cares for you
I can’t believe the way you took me down
I never saw the pain
Coming in a million broken miles
Like poison in my veins
With this knife I’ll cut out the part of me
The part that cares for you
With this knife I’ll cut out the heart of me
The heart that cares for you
The hate and the fear
The nightmares that wake me up
In the tears
The nightmares and (the hate)…

My 2 Cents:
This song gets a bad rap I think. so many see it as emo. It is expressive and poetic. It feels like a song that I can relate to. sometimes that idea of taking a knife and cutting out the heart that wants to hang onto a toxic love…is strong.

Coffee House Writers

My girl Cyndi has taken a indeterminate break due to health from Coffee House Writers. And Tish apparently did not post this week…So I found a couple of other posts that looked interesting by other friends. I like sharing three of us.

Mine – Poet’s Blade.

My friend Heather’s Poem – Silent No Longer and her story – Welkin Freefall

And another friend Keely’s Article – #Metoo #Nevertool8

Monday Poetry

And because I am proud of Serena. (She is doing a volume of poetry of her own.) Here is one of hers.

How to Write About Corsets in Historical Fiction

Amelia Marie's avatarAmelia Marie

Are you a writer of historical fiction? Do you have characters who wear corsets? Are you someone who pays attention to detail and wants your writing to feel real? If so, then this post is for you!

I am a writer, amateur historical costumer and corset maker/wearer, so I’m here to offer my advice on writing corseted characters in historical fiction. In this post I’m going to give you a brief history of corset wearing, some information from my experience about how it feels to put on and wear a corset, and some myths and tropes you’ll want to avoid.

Fashion tends to be an overlooked aspect in all types of fiction, not just historical fiction. But I think it’s pretty important because the clothing in the world of your story says a lot about the culture your characters live in and what their everyday life is like. In historical…
